This will probably seem strange to those who don’t live in the rust belt, but the only GMT-400s you see at work anymore around here , are rusty beat up piles. I’ve seen this at least 19 year old Chevy 2500 pulling FedEx duty a  couple times now. It looks really clean. It makes me happy every time I see it.

I was gonna say, I see these virtually every day and local CL probably has dozens without a spec of rust. Gotta love the west coast!

The rust I saw on my journey through that area late last year still shock s me.

The rocker panels on my 13 year old Sierra are dissolving rapidly. The chrome on both bumpers has cracked, because rust underneath has swelled them. The crevices of my tailgate, rusty. When I pulled my driver’s side taillight to change a bulb, I found a big hole underneath it. The bottom of my doors are starting to rust. The driver's door quite badly . I recently found a rust spot starting to develop smack in the middle of the right rear door skin. It's depressing.

If I lived there I’d probably just lease forever, and shrug my shoulders. It would kill me to see a beloved car slowly but surely dissolve. Here, 30 year old cars are still in daily service without a speck of rust.

Speaking of those trucks, one popped up in my morning CL FSBO browse:

I can’t really afford to s hell out lease payments in perpetuity, but it’s tempting.

Man, that is clean!

I’m shocked that there’s an early 90’s Suburban 2500 being used on the base where I work. The paint  is terribly faded, but it seems to be pretty rust free.
